MIPS Technologies needs you now. The six-person team in Cambridge (formerly Algorithmics Ltd) creates development tools, OS ports and base technology to support MTI's high performance cores.
You must have five or more years of experience providing a significant body of software for non-captive users. You'll have had some experience maintaining compilers or an OS kernel. Though you will be expected to contribute to planning and estimating, you'll still be very ``hands on'' in writing code.
Your basic skills will include strong C and Unix tools. C++ and Windows development skills would be useful.
Candidates will be expected to thrive on light supervision, and to like working fast. Our working style is informal but we set high standards for the products we deliver.
We will continue to be a small team, so you'll need to be flexible.
You will be working directly with some very experienced and knowledgeable engineers. Contact with our Silicon Valley group is inevitable and enjoyable. We will offer salary and benefits in line with your skill and experience.
Our offices are located at Chittering, between Cambridge and Ely on the A10: part-time telecommuting is possible. Write with your CV by emailing jobs@algor.co.uk, fax or letter. Attach a CV if you have one; plain text or PDF are preferable to MS Word - more compact, fewer opportunities for viruses.
We build tools and provide support services around the products of MIPS Technologies Inc, but also reaching development teams building ``embedded systems'' with other MIPS architecture CPUs.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package including share options, and the ability to learn more from working with some very smart and enormously experienced engineers. ``Open Source'' is a big movement, and isn't going away. As Algorithmics we built a world-wide reputation for compiler and OS kernel work among MIPS developers, and now as MIPS Technologies we're part of a modest-sized but transnational corporation: this could be your passport to international fame and fortune...
Note: All positions are open to principals only unless expressly communicated otherwise by MIPS' Director of Human Resources. Unsolicited agency resume submissions will become the property of MIPS Technologies.
