David, Some time ago, when Zeus was going through a difficult phase and we were experiencing layoffs, the last sysadmin to work for Zeus was let go: At that time, I agreed to cover such of the system administration tasks as I could as a stopgap measure until a new system administrator could be hired. Since then, although Zeus has re-expanded and there are now greater demands on the system administrator, especially in the area of windows end-user support (which is not my field at all and one I am not at all comfortable covering) there has been no indication (despite meeting several times to discuss this problem) that this situation is going to change: Indeed, every move made indicates that there is to be a permanent and significant shift in my job description to cover mainly those duties which I do not wish to do, am not good at or knowledgeable about, and did not sign up for in the first place, not having been hired as a sysadmin. As a result, I do not believe that I am effective in my current role(s), nor do I believe I could be - this has caused a certain degree of unhappiness in me and a obvious dissatisfaction in those who need IT work done. Since I do not feel, under these circumstances, that I can be effective or productive, and this situation benefits no-one, I have decided to tender my notice of resignation, effective as of today.
